Li'l Sammy!

Some friends of ours (Sam & Teri), here in Gainesville, just had their first baby, Little Sammy. He is absolutely adorable. Here are a few pics from the hospital, with the little one. It just makes me and Sherry think about starting our own family. One day this will be us. :)

The Spa!

Here are some pictures from my recent trip to a spa in Orlando, FL, with the girls from my dad's side of the family. We all had a wonderful time at the Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa. Our condo had a great lake view and was so peaceful. On Saturday, we enjoyed the wonderful spa amenities, especially the whirlpool. We each had a massage, some of us had mud wraps, body scrubs, facials, and pedicures. It was such a fun relaxing weekend to spend with my aunt, mom, sister, and cousins, that we are planning a spring spa weekend!!

Healthy

So the doctor gave the okay for me to go back to work again. It feels great to be able to get off the desk. I start back next Wednesday night. My shoulder feels great and I am ready to get back to work. Finally!!!

School

Well, I started classes today for the Fall semester at UF. I will be learning about insects in a class called,...well, "The Insects." Catchy, huh? Anyway, I am also taking a Criminological Procedure course. Now that just sounds like a hard class. Not really. It is basically a class about crime procedures and trends. Should be right up my alley, since I see the crime trends and criminal procedure first hand every day.

We'll see how it goes.

3 Years

Today, we celebrate our 3 year anniversary.

Ah, this time of year brings back such fond memories. Hurricanes, pizza and phone calls, delayed flights to Hawaii. Such fun was had by all. Okay, by most.

Well, we remember it with a smile and a laugh. And lots of LOVE!!!

1 Month

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!

Okay, so maybe not that exciting, but almost. After seeing the doctor this past Thursday, I found out that I have 1 month left on a desk, then back to regular duty. I can't wait. I started on a strength training regimine, to get my shoulder stronger for when I go back to work. Soon life will be back to normal.

Also part of that excitement, I got my final exam score for my STATS course. 102%. Yes, you read that correctly. So I ended up with a B in the course (much better than the first go 'round - we won't discuss that grade). Now, on to the next course, and the next, and the next, etc, until I get my degree.

So anyway, a few of my recent life stresses have been relieved. WHEW!!!

Routine

That's what my life feels like right now. During the week, I am in school and PT. On the weekend, I am at work (still working the front desk). And since I am working on the weekends, Sherry and I can't leave town to go anywhere. My only hope? Getting approved for some much needed time off. The desk in driving me crazy.

Therapy on my shoulder is going well. Not fast enough to suit my needs, but you can't rush these things. Hopefully sometime in early August, I will get released for regular duty, but time will tell. Is it wrong that I have an increasing urge to go arrest someone? I don't know. I can now say for sure that I was not meant to work behind a desk. Answering the phones at the police department can drive a person crazy.

Sometimes life in Gainesville seems a little dull. We don't seem to have as much excitement as places like, say, NYC. But hey, I guess we have the gators right? NO, not the football team. I am referring to the 3-4 alligators that have been run over on the city streets here in Gainesville, over the past couple weeks. Seems like every week, someone else runs one over. It's amazing, you can't kill a gator with a shotgun unless you shoot them in ther mouth, but if some little car hits them on a street going 30-40mph, WHAM, it's gator for dinner folks!.

Oh well, this is our lives here in the swamp!

Happy 4th of July !

Yea, I know I am a little behind posting this, but the way I see it, you can never have too much love for our flag.

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Independance Day. I'm sure everyone saw or heard some fireworks somewhere. We went to the display they had here in Gainesville. Oddly, UF does theirs on July 3rd for some reason. Don't know what that is about, but it's what we have to work with. We watched the NYC show on NBC last night. VERY COOL!!! We'll have to try to see that in person in the near future.

Physical Therapy

Ah, what a lovely thing. Rehabbing from an injury (dislocated right shoulder in my case). I have been out of work for over 2 months now and have yet another 6 weeks (minimum) until I can go back to regular duties.

I started PT this week. It does not appear to be that difficult, until you start the exercises and routines they ask. You forget the pain you had when you got the injury, until you have to start moving it more than your body wants to. Major OUCH!!

I hope to shorten my days on limited duty, but the doc knows best, I guess. Anyway, life will be fun with PT, school and work, I think. Hmmmmm.......
